Task: To create the elements of the final website.
This is the key build stage. This is the first time the client will see realistic interpretations of how the final website can look and is only possible at this stage because of the groundwork that has gone before. Any concept work carried out before this stage will be just that – concept, as the full functional requirements of the site will only now be fully apparent. The same applies to any programming or database work.
The client will begin seeing visuals first which will be developed to a final look and culminate in the presentation of a working mock-up. Usability testing - how users navigate the site, the clarity of information and the tactile and emotional experience can begin to be assessed at this stage and will continue for the rest of the project. Once a creative approach has been approved the programming which in part will have run in parallel will begin to be integrated into the design. At this stage the full functionality will begin to be delivered. Towards the end of programming development, software testing will begin to ensure the completed site is free of programming errors and robust in use.
Deliverables: 1st stage * Creative designs for potential solutions. 2nd stage * Chosen designs taken to interactive prototype with working navigation and buttons but minimal content 3rd stage * Gradual integration of fully functional site and integration of live copy and other content 4th stage * Testing
